Fan Primer: Wolves Set to Host Golden Eagles and Beavers in Wachs Arena

Aberdeen, S.D. â€“ The Northern State women’s basketball team is set to play their final two home games of the 2022 calendar year this weekend against NSIC North Division foes Minnesota Crookston and Bemidji State. The Wolves and Golden Eagles are set for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off on Friday evening, and the Wolves and Beavers are scheduled for a 4 p.m. tip-off on Saturday afternoon.

Game Specific Promotions

  • Northern State Athletics will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the passage of Title IX on Friday evening
  • Fans are encouraged to wear ugly holiday sweaters to Saturday's contest
    • Free Santa & Mrs. Claus photos will take place from 4-6 p.m. in the Barnett Center Main Hallway
  • The Northern State team store will run their holiday Candy Cane sale all weekend with discounts ranging from 10-50% off

 

Entrances to the Facility & Gate Opening Times

Fans will be able to enter the Barnett Center through both the north and south doors. Access to the south entrance is available through both Dakota Bank Stadium entrances off South State Street and 15th Ave SE. Ticket gates will be located at both the north and south doors of the Barnett Center, and will open one hour prior to tip-off for all general admission and same day ticket sales. Gates will open one hour prior to tip-off each game day. 

 

Online Ticketing

Wolves Club season tickets and general admission passes can be purchased online at nsuwolves.universitytickets.com or at the gate on game day. The fully automated system allows fans to select their seat for game day with tickets sent directly to your email or mobile device. Pricing for season and single game tickets is available at nsuwolves.com/tickets. Senior and youth tickets are only available for purchase at the gate on game days. All game day ticket sales will be available at both the North and South entrances of the Barnett Center. The Northern State passbook will be located at the north doors of the Barnett Center, individuals must sign in via the far right line at the ticket gate. There is no re-entry into the facility.

Current Northern State University students will receive one free ticket to all home sporting events throughout the 2022-23 academic. Information on how to claim student tickets will be distributed via email. 

 

Parking

The first three rows of parking in the Barnett Center main lot will be reserved for Wolves Club members with an annual parking pass, with free parking for all fans available in the following rows to the North.

 

Concessions and Team Store

The Northern State concession stands are operated by Sodexo and offer a wide range of options for fans of all ages. Enjoy an ice-cold Coca-Cola product, bite into a soft pretzel with cheese, a world famous Wolf dog, or walking taco. Don’t forget to grab a freshly made popcorn or batch of Wisconsin cheese curds from one of the concession stands near you at all home Wolves athletic events. The NSU Nike Team Store will be open in its main Barnett Center location on game day, opening one hour prior to tip-off.

NORTHERN STATE STORYLINES

  • Northern State enters the weekend with a record of 6-3 (1-2 NSIC), the Wolves are currently tied for ninth place in the NSIC and tied for fourth in the North Division 
  • Last weekend Northern’s 6-game winning streak was snapped, falling at home to UMary (70-57) and on the road at Minot State (67-66) at the buzzer
  • Laurie Rogers continued to be the hot hand for the Wolves in scoring last weekend, averaging 16.0 points per game while also recording 5.5 rebounds and 1.0 block per game against the Marauders and Beavers
  • Kailee Oliverson and Rogers are tied for the team lead with an 11.9 scoring average, Rianna Fillipi rounds out the NSU players averaging double figures with 10.7 points per game
  • Rogers leads the team in rebounding (6.8) and blocks (2.0), while Fillipi leads the team in assists (3.6) and steals (1.7)
  • The Wolves are shooting the ball 41.0 percent from the field, 28.9 percent from 3-point range, and 73.3 percent from the free throw line
  • Northern State leads NCAA Division II with the fewest turnovers per game, averaging 9.8 turnovers; Northern has turned the ball over ten or fewer times in five games, and hold a 5-2 record this season when forcing more turnovers
  • NSU also ranks fifth nationally with a 1.34 assist/turnover ratio, the Wolves are averaging 13.1 assists per game compared to 9.8 turnovers per game
  • Rogers ranks sixth nationally in total blocked shots (18) and 13th in blocks per game (2.00)

 

MINNESOTA CROOKSTON STORYLINES

  • Minnesota Crookston enters the weekend with a record of 2-7 (1-2 NSIC), the Golden Eagles are currently tied for ninth place in the NSIC and tied for fourth in the North Division
  • Crookston looks to break a 2-game losing streak this weekend after dropping a contest game at Minnesota Duluth (83-58) and a home match-up with St. Cloud State (71-51) last weekend
  • Alex Page led the Golden Eagles in scoring last weekend, averaging 10.5 points per game while also grabbing 4.5 rebounds per game against the Bulldogs and Huskies
  • Emma Miller is the lone UMC player to average double figures in scoring with 12.9 points per game, she also leads the team in assists (3.7) and steals (1.1)
  • Bren Fox adds 6.1 points per game and leads the team in rebounding (6.7), while Nicole Hernandez adds 5.1 points per game and leads the team in blocks (2.0)
  • The Golden Eagles are shooting the ball 38.2 percent from the field, 33.7 percent from 3-point range, and 77.5 percent from the free throw line
  • Through nine games this season Minnesota Cookston has a -6.4 turnover margin, committing 16.2 turnovers per game compared to their opponents 9.8 turnovers per game
