Wolves Travel South for Final Cross-Divisional Weekend

Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State women's basketball team is set to begin a four game road trip, starting with their final weekend of cross-divisional play at Concordia-St. Paul and Minnesota State. The Wolves and Golden Bears are set to tip-off at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, and the Wolves and Mavericks are scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. tip-off on Saturday afternoon.

NORTHERN STATE STORYLINES
  • Northern State enters this weekend with a record of 10-8 (7-6 NSIC), the Wolves are currently tied for seventh overall in the conference and are fourth in the north division
  • Northern split a pair of games against south division opponents last weekend, defeating Upper Iowa (71-62) prior to losing their first cross-divisional contest to Winona State (65-55)
  • NSU is averaging 65.3 points, 39.8 rebounds, 11.1 assists, 14.4 turnovers, 6.4 steals, and 4.6 blocks per game
  • They are shooting the ball 40.1 percent from the field, 27.9 percent from 3-point range, and 74.0 percent from the free throw line
  • Northern State remains the conference leader in rebound margin with a 6.8 rebound advantage that also ranks 38th nationally, on five occasions this season the Wolves have out-rebounded an opponent by double digits
  • The Wolves rank 28th nationally with 251 made free throws on the season, they average 13.9 made free throws per game which is the fourth most in the NSIC
  • Laurie Rogers enters the week with 60 blocked shots on the season, which leads the NSIC and ranks second nationally, she needs five blocks to enter the top-5 for most in a single season
  • Rogers also leads the team in rebounding with 7.8 per game, the fourth most in the conference
  • Kailee Oliverson leads Northern State in scoring, averaging 13.9 points per game on 40.2 percent shooting from the field
  • Rianna Fillipi leads the team in assists and steals with 4.9 and 2.3 per game
  • Lexi Roe recorded her third double-double of the season and brings her season averages to 11.9 points and 6.4 rebounds per game
CONCORDIA-ST. PAUL STORYLINES
  • Concordia-St. Paul enters the weekend with a record of 11-6 (7-6 NSIC), the Golden Bears are currently tied for seventh overall in the conference and are third in the south division
  • Concordia went 1-1 on the road last weekend, picking up a victory at UMary (79-58) before falling at Minot State (81-70)
  • CSP is averaging 71.5 points, 40.2 rebounds, 15.6 assists, 16.2 turnovers, 8.5 steals, and 4.5 blocks per game
  • They are shooting the ball 42.3 percent from the field, 31.9 percent from 3-point range, and 68.8 percent from the free throw line
  • Lindsey Becher leads five Golden Bears averaging double figures in points with 13.5 per game, she is also the team leader and second in the NSIC in blocks with 3.2 per game
  • Meghan DuBois adds 11.8 points per game and leads the team with 5.5 assists and 2.5 steals per game, she ranks second and fourth in the conference in those respective categories
  • Sydney Zgutowicz grabs a team high 8.1 rebounds per game to go along with 10.3 points per game, she averages the second most rebounds per game in the NSIC
LOOKING BACK TO 2020
  • Northern State and Concordia-St. Paul last played on February 26th, 2020, when the Wolves escaped St. Paul with a 72-68 overtime victory in the first round of the NSIC Tournament
  • Northern leads the all-time series 23-17, and have won three of the last five meetings
MINNESOTA STATE STORYLINES
  • Minnesota State enters the weekend with a record of 13-4 (9-4 NSIC), the Mavericks are third overall in the conference and first in the south division
  • Last weekend the Mavericks went 1-1 on a road trip north, losing to Minot State (81-71) before bouncing back with a win over UMary (74-60)
  • MSU is averaging 78.5 points, 38.6 rebounds, 13.4 assists, 14.5 turnovers, 14.0 steals, and 1.6 blocks per game
  • They are shooting the ball 40.9 percent from the field, 31.9 percent from 3-point range, and 71.2 percent from the free throw line
  • Minnesota State is the league leader in scoring offense (78.5), scoring margin (10.4), offensive rebounding (13.2), turnover margin (9.06), and steals (14.00)
  • Joey Batt leads the team in scoring and ranks fourth in the NSIC with 16.2 points per game, she also leads the team with 3.2 assists per game
  • The Mavericks have three players averaging over two steals per game, led by Batt with 2.8 steals, Ryle Menster with 2.4 steals, and Maddy Olson with 2.1 steals per game
