School Records Abound for Northern State from SDSU D2 Invite

Brookings, S.D. – The Northern State University men's and women's track and field teams opened their weekend Friday at the SDSU Division II Invite. Northern recorded 19 top-10 finishes between the two programs. In addition, three school records and one meet record fell for the Wolves.
 
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
  • Jackson Harrison took home the top spot in the 5000m, crossing the finish line in a school record time of 14:37.79
  • The 4x400m relay squad of JD Matehs, Brady Janssen, Jackson Willis, and Chase Domier rounded out the top-10 with a time of 3:30.65
  • Tanner Berg opened his day winning the weight throw with a meet record 21.24m toss and added a third place finish in the shot put, throwing 16.19m
  • Glen Quayle won the pole vault, breaking the school record with a provisional jump of 4.90m
  • Sam Tremelling and Rico Imus followed with jumps of 4.30m and 4.00m
 
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
  • Shona Juliana tallied a fourth place finish in the long jump with a 5.57m mark
  • Cassidy Gough rounded out the top-10 in the weight throw, tossing 15.06m
  • Sierra Sweeney added a sixth place finish in the triple jump with a 10.69m mark
  • Megan Mooberry won the 5000m run with a time of 17:46.71, followed by Megan Pickering with a time of 17:57.57 in fifth
  • Mooberry added her second event victory running to a time of 3:12.13 in the 1000m
  • Summer Carlson and Alli Jackson recorded eighth and tenth place finishing in the 600m with times of 1:40.67 and 1:43.04
  • Jennifer Clark continued the distance success, taking second in the 800m with a school record time of 2:17.55, followed by Mary Franssen in tenth with a time of 2:23.38
  • Shanice Burrell qualified for finals in the 60m hurdles, taking second with a time of 8.92
  • The 4x400m relay team of Jackson, Carlson, Sweeney, Clark tallied a ninth place finish with a time of 4:11.58
 
BEYOND THE RESULTS
  • Jennifer Clark broke the 800m record of 2:19.93 set by Makayla Perryman in 2013
  • Jackson Harrison's time of 14:37.79 broke the 16 year old record of 14:38.11 held by Jeremy VanVleen
  • Glen Quayle surpassed the previous pole vault record of 4.80m set by Ross Pfeifle in 2009
