Wolves Find Success from NSU Open Home Meet

Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University track and field teams hosted their annual outdoor meet from the Swisher Activities Complex, hosting 12 visiting teams. The Wolves recorded 31 top-5 finishes, including ten event wins between the men's and women's programs.
 
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
  • Tava Berg notched the first event victory for the women, jumping 1.68m (5-06.00) in the high jump
  • Kenzie Hamann ran to a fifth place finish in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 13:06.52
  • The 4x100m relay team of Isabel Kinzer, Shona Juliana, Makenna Larson, and Emma Rezac won the race with a time of 48.83
  • Shanice Burrell added to the win column as the top finisher in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.58
  • Throwing 39.17m (128-06.00), Rachel Guthmiller took fourth in the javelin
  • Isabel Kinzer recorded the top time in the 400m hurdles, crossing the line in 1:04.51
  • Makenna Larson took fifth in the 200m with a time of 26.37
  • Megan Mooberry recorded a runner-up finish in the 5000m with a time of 17:56.34, while Jordyn Sterud took fifth in 18:37.04
  • The Wolves took second in the 4x400m relay, as the squad of Kinzer, Dakota Hutzler, Burrell, and Rezac crossed the line in 4:02.91
  • Juliana tallied a third place finish in the triple jump with an 11.38m (47-04.00) mark and added a third place finish in the long jump, with a school record mark of 5.64m (18-06.00)
  • The Northern women took the top-3 spots in the pole vault led by Kealy Hill vaulting 3.87m (12-08.25)
  • Jordyn Huneke took second in the pole vault with a 3.55m (11-07.75) mark and Christine Nefgzer and Kenzee Danielson tied for third jumping 3.43m (11-03.00)
 
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
  • Jalen Chase won the 10,000m run with a time of 35:09.66, followed by Ricardo Chase with a time of 35:21.47
  • The 4x100m relay team of Brady Janssen, Isaiha Fletcher, Riley Gauer, and Tafara Hondonga took fourth, crossing the finish line in 44.30
  • Riccardo Done and Jorge Garcia took second and third in the 1500m, recording times of 3:59.87 and 4:04.75
  • Bryce Malsam placed fifth in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.29
  • Seth Martens won the 400m dash with a time of 49.18, followed by Fletcher in fifth with a time of 51.48
  • Kelson Brewer took second in the 400m hurdles, notching a time of 57.01, and fifth in the pole vault, clearing 4.40m (14-05.25)
  • Jackson Harrison won the 5000m with a time of 14:56.95, followed by Jorge Garcia in fourth with a time of 15:39.44
  • The 4x400m relay team of Brewer, Martens, Fletcher, and Hondonga won the race with a time of 3:23.30
  • Darrian Hood finished as the runner-up in the triple jump, notching a 13.66m (44-09.75) mark
  • Tanner Berg won the hammer, throwing 65.46m (214-09.00), and finished fourth in the shot, throwing 15.49m (50-10.00)
 
BEYONG THE RESULTS
  • Shona Juliana broke the long jump school record of 5.62m (18-05.50) set by Peggy Nordyke in 1984

Northern travels to the Wayne State Triangular next Saturday. One of two regular season meets remaining this season.
