NSIC Track & Field Preseason Coaches' Polls Released

Burnsville, Minn. – The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference released the 2021 Outdoor Track and Field Preseason Coaches' Polls this morning. Northern Sate was picked fifth on the women's side with 141 points and third on the men's side with 88 points.
 
The Northern State women placed sixth from the 2019 NSIC Outdoor Championships and recently took fifth at the 2021 NSIC Indoor Championships. The Wolves tallied five all-conference performances and one NSIC Champion from the 2021 indoor championships. Jordyn Huneke won the pole vault for NSU, leading a talented vaulting squad. Shanice Burrell and Tava Berg were picked as the team's athletes to watch for the outdoor season. Both are coming off strong indoor seasons, as Burrell earned all-conference accolades in the 60m hurdles and Berg was crowned an NCAA All-American in the high jump. The Wolves women return 23 student-athletes from the 2019-20 roster and welcome ten incoming freshman and transfers.

The Northern State men placed sixth from the 2019 NSIC Outdoor Championships and recently took fourth from the 2021 NSIC Indoor Championships. The Wolves tallied six all-conference performances and three conference championships during the 2021 indoor season. Tanner Berg won both the weight throw and shot put, while Terry Towah was the true freshman champion in the 200m. Bryce Malsam and Tanner Berg were picked as the team's athletes to watch for the 2021 outdoor season. Malsam returns to the NSU roster following his 2020 COVID senior season, while Berg looks to continue his strong performances from the indoor slate. The Wolves return 28 from last year's roster and welcome 13 to the squad in 2020-21.
