Jim Emmerich Invite on Tap for Wolves Track and Field

Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University track and field teams will compete at the Jim Emmerich Alumni Invite hosted by South Dakota State University this Saturday. Competition opens at 1 p.m. from the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletics complex.

MEN'S STORYLINES
  • The Wolves won the Marauder Open last weekend, scoring 138 team points; event wins from the weekend are listed below
  • Dakota Larson continued his event wins, taking the 60m dash with a time of 7.14
  • Terry Towah added to the Wolves win column, recording a time of 50.49 in the 400m
  • Tafara Hondonga raced to an event win in the 600m, finishing in 1:24.81
  • Jackson Harrison won the 3000m by nearly seven seconds, crossing the finish line in 8:43.98 which register as both a personal record for Harrison and a facility record at UMary
  • Tanner Berg won the weight throw, with an automatic qualifying mark of 21.28m, and the shot put, throwing 15.98m
 
WOMEN'S STORYLINES
  • The Northern State women took second at the Marauder Open a weekend ago, scoring 145 points; event wins from the weekend are listed below
  • Jordyn Sterud won the mile, crossing the finish line at 5:34.29
  • Jordyn Huneke notched her second pole vault victory of the year, clearing 3.67m
  • Jordan Menken won the shot put with a 12.95m toss
 
WOLVES WITH NATIONAL MARKS
  • Tanner Berg hit a national provisional mark in the weight throw of 20.34m versus Jamestown and improved his mark at the Marauder Open; he leads the nation throwing an auto qualifying mark of 21.28m
  • Tava Berg tallied a national provisional mark in the high jump versus Jamestown of 1.68m, which is the eighth best mark currently
  • Jordyn Huneke is just off the automatic qualifying standard in the pole vault with a 3.95m mark, ranking her third in the nation
  • Despite not hitting a provisional mark, Dakota Hutzler current ranks second in the nation in the long jump with a mark of 5.65m
 
SCHOOL RECORD WATCH
  • Tava Berg broke the high jump record of 1.66m set by Tara Like in 1996 at the Jamestown dual, jumping 1.68m
  • Dakota Hutzler shattered the long jump mark of 5.52m set by Heidi Nelson (1993) and Katie Anderson (2005) on each of her three attempts at the Jamestown dual, recording a day best of 5.65m
