Northern Baseball Heads to Denver to take on Regis University

Aberdeen, S.D. – Northern State Baseball is back on the road again this weekend as they make their way to Denver, Colorado for a four-game series against Regis University.  Northern will open the series at 3 p.m. with a single game on Friday.  Saturday will be a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m. with game two to follow at approximately 3 p.m.. The series will wrap up at 12 p.m. on Sunday.
 
ABOUT THE WOLVES
  • NSU heads to Denver 0-2 on the season
  • Connor Burgess leads heading into the weekend with six plate appearances, one run, one hit and one double with a .500 OPS
  • Spencer Sarringar is seeing the ball well early in the season having two walks on five plate appearances
  • Zach Hrvol recorded five innings pitched with two hits, one run, three walks and six strike outs posting a 1.40 ERA
  • John Werner follows close to Hrvol with four innings pitched, four hits, three runs, and five strike outs as he posts a 1.75 ERA
 
ABOUT THE RANGERS
  • Regis University enters the 4-game weekend series 4-6 overall, 3-5 on the road, and 1-1 at neutral sites
  • As a team the Rangers are hitting .262, led by Austin Vaught batting .481
  • Austin Vaught leads the ranges in batting average with .481 on 27 at bats, four runs, 13 hits, five double, two triples, and 12 RBI's
  • Roger Riley leads the team in on base percentage getting on base 63.6% of the time; he has six at bats with a .333 batting average
  • RU pitching staff enters the weekend with a 7.09 ERA with 84 strikeouts thus far
  • Justin Kleinsorge has yet to be credited with a loss in his 16.1 innings pitches; allowing 11 hits, nine runs, and three walks, with 20 strikeouts
  • The Rangers are led by skipper Drew LaComb in his first season
