Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University softball team was swept by the University of Mary on the road earlier today. The Wolves are now 2-6 in Northern Sun action, with 22 games left in the 2-19 league schedule.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The two teams were scoreless through the first three innings of play, before the Marauders took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth
- Northern State tied things up in the sixth, as Courtney Sjerven doubled to left center field and came around to score on a single by Kennady Thompson
- Mary however took the lead for the second time in the bottom of the sixth and held the Wolves in the top of the seventh
- Northern tallied one run on four hits with one error defensively
- Jamie Fisher suffered the loss for NSU giving up one earned run on four hits with two walks and a strikeout
- Makenzie Merritt entered for one inning of relief giving up just one hit

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The University of Mary jumped out to a 5-run lead in the first inning, and tacked on a combined three runs in the third and fifth which sealed the run rule win
- Northern was unable to push a run across, notching just three hits in the contest
- Andrea Cherney suffered her seventh loss of the season
