Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University softball team split with Bemidji State University on the road Friday afternoon. The Wolves fell in the opener, but came back for a 1-run victory in game two.

GAME 1
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Rachel Reinke led off the game with a 6-pitch walk and came around to score the first run of the game on a Jamie Fisher single to left
- Bemidji State quickly answered back with five earned run of their own in the bottom of the frame
- Northern began to chip away in the fourth with two runs off the bats of Madison Rutter (suicide squeeze) and Rachel Reinke (single to left)
- The Beavers responded in the bottom of the inning, notching four more runs and grabbing a 9-3 lead
- The Wolves added two more runs in the fifth and sixth, however it was not enough to overcome the first and fourth inning deficits
- NSU tallied five runs on 12 hits, out-hitting BSU by five, with one error defensively
- Jamie Fisher suffered the loss in the circle giving up all five first inning runs

GAME 2
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Wolves bounced back right away in game two, as Rachel Reinke blasted a homerun to left field in the top of the first
- Bemidji took the lead in the bottom of the third innings with two runs of their own, however the Wolves were not finished
- Kaitlyn King double to center field scoring Emma Terveer in the second and Sara Bendt scored on an error by the catcher in the sixth
- Northern out-hit Bemidji for the second game in a row, notching three runs on 13 hits without giving up an error on defense
- Makenzie Merritt threw a complete game for NSU, notching her fifth win of the 2019 season
