Track and Field Opens 2019-20 Today at Dakota Classic

Aberdeen, S.D. - Northern State track and field head to Fargo today to compete in the NDSU Dakota Classic. Competition kicks off at 12 p.m. with the multi events, while full team action opens at 1 p.m. (field) and 4:30 p.m. (running) from the Shelly Ellig Indoor Track and Field Facility.
 
QUICK HITS ON THE WOLVES
  • Lynne Dingman starts off the 2019-20 season as the head coach for Northern State University, returning to her alma-mater
  • The NSU women are coming off a ninth place finish at the NSIC Indoor Championships, while the men finished in seventh place last season
  • Kealy Hill placed second in the pole vault at the NSIC Indoor Championship making her the only all-conference performer for the women
  • The Wolves men had two all-conference performers in TJ Hochstetler (Heptathlon) and Tanner Berg (Shot put) in 2018-19
  • Berg also qualified for the NCAA Championships and finished 11th in the weight throw, earning the first All-American honors of his career
  • NSU returns 39 student-athletes from the 2018-19 roster, with the addition of 20 new faces this fall
  • Hill and Berg were named the team's field athletes to watch by the NSIC, while Shanice Burrell and Isaiha Fletcher were named the runners to watch
  • The men and women were both picked eight overall in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll
  • The Wolves received 54 points on the men's side and 92 points on the women's
