Wolves Swimming falls short in Dual Against The Mustangs

Marshall, Minn. – Northern State swimming fell short against Southwest Minnesota State Friday evening, in the first ever meeting between the two programs.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Northern State notched 25 top-3 finishes on the evening
  • NSU took second in the 200 medley with Georgy Turner, Annalise Bishop, Lauren Forsyth, and Cassie Williams hitting the wall at 1:56.54
  • The second 200 medley relay team comprised of Hannah Kiernan, Delanee Grier, Lexie Malimanek, and Melani Mercer placed third with a time of 2:02.39
  • In the 1650 free, Kiernan placed second (19:08.75), Delaney Ryken finished third (19:15.01), and Jordan Metz placed fourth (20:50.81)
  • Connor Doran finished second in the 200 free with a time of 1:59.93, followed by Josie Gillund in third with a time of 2:01.43
  • The Wolves top finisher in the 100 back was Emma Murdock in third with a time of 1:04.62
  • Bishop and Grier rounded out the top-3 in the 100 breast with marks of 1:13.92 and 1:14.88 respectively
  • The Wolves took the top spot in the 200 fly as Lauren Forsyth finished with a time of 2:13.89
  • Northern State swept the top-3 places in the 50 free led by Gillund in first with a time of 25.62, followed by Williams and Doran with times of 26.07 and 26.51
  • Gillund placed second in the 100 free with a time of 55.02 and Doran following behind in third with a time of 56.93 for the Wolves
  • Kiernan swims into third place with a time of 2:18.40 in the 200 back
  • Grier grabbed third in the 200 breast for Northern State with a time of 2:36.57
  • Ryken and Kristen Colingwood placed second and third in the 500 free with times of 5:34.33 and 5:46.52
  • NSU went one-two-three in the 100 fly, led by Forsyth with a time of 1:00.73
  • Marialuisa Avila and Murdock rounded out the top-3 in the event hitting the wall at 1:00.79 and 1:05.83
  • The Wolves closed out the evening from the pool in the 200 free relay as NSU won the race in a time of 1:42.29 (Ryken, Doran, Gillund, and Avila)
  • The relay team of Kennedy Davis, Kristen Colingwood, Megan Pattee, and Murdock took second in the event with a time of 1:47.52
BEYOND THE RESULTS
  • Gillund had three individual top-3 finishes along with a relay win
  • Forsyth picked up wins in both her 100 and 200 fly races
UP NEXT
The Wolves return home next week welcoming the Dragons of MSU Moorhead to the pool.  First race is set to take off at 5:30 p.m. on Friday from the Aberdeen YMCA.
