Wolves Set for Six Conference Games This Week

Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University baseball team is set for the week with games Wednesday at Minnesota Crookston and senior weekend this Saturday and Sunday at Fossum Field. The Wolves will face off against Minnesota Crookston beginning at 1:30 p.m. in an NSIC doubleheader Wednesday. First pitch against Duluth is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Saturday and 12 p.m. on Sunday against the Bulldogs.

The Wolves enter the week with a 13-15 overall and a 6-10 NSIC record (10th). Last week Northern State went 4-2 splitting with Minnesota State Mankato and took three games from University of Mary. NSU as a team, is hitting .268 with 17 home runs, six triples, and 54 doubles on 222 hits. Jack Schmidt leads the team with .396 batting average, second on the team is Dakota Stilson with a .348, and Ben Carolin has a .307 average on the season. Schmidt also leads the Wolves with 40 hits, second is Stilson with 32, and Carolin and Lucas Lorenz have tallied 23 hits on the season. Schmidt notched a team high six home runs on the season and Lorenz is second with four. Schmidt and Stilson leads the team with 11 doubles, second on the team is Hayden Hall with seven.

NSU as a pitching staff has a 5.49 earned run average, giving up 236 hits, 127 earned runs, striking out 159 hitters, while walking 98, and giving up a .282 batting average. Luke Chevalier leads the pitching staff with three wins on the season with 43.1 innings and 34 strikeouts, Thomas Sertic is second on the team with 29.0 innings pitched and 29 strikeouts. Colton Landreth is third on the team with 18 strikeouts in 20.2 innings. Holt Hunziker has gave up one run in 16.2 innings in relief while striking out 17. Fielding percentage for the Wolves is at .955 with 41 errors as a team in 908 chances.
Wolves are coached by Dean Berry in his eighth year as head coach posting a 144-175 record.
