Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University wrestling team will welcome Minnesota State and Dickinson State to town this Thursday and Friday. The Wolves will face off with the Mavericks on Thursday and the Blue Hawks on Friday with each matching beginning at 7 p.m. from Wachs Arena.
Northern is coming off a 0-2 week against No. 6 Upper Iowa University and MSU Moorhead. The Wolves are currently 1-11 this season and 0-5 in the league.
Tanner Olson was the top point scorer for the Wolves notching a 5-2 decision win over Mac Spotts (UIU) and a victory by fall over Patrick Freeman of MSUM.
Blake Perryman returned to the mat notching decision victories over Cody Nelson (5-3) of Upper Iowa and Weston Dobler (10-5) of MSU Moorhead.
Josh Moore came away with a big 5-3 decision win over Hunter Slifka of Upper Iowa on Friday.
After a break through the middle part of the season, Perryman has returned and leads the team with a 13-2 record overall. The senior holds a team leading six wins by fall, as well as four technical fall victories and two pins. Olson has been strong this semester posting a 5-3 record overall and 4-1 mark in the NSIC.
Paxton Mewes and
Billy Holtan are 9-4 and 7-9 this season respectively. Mewes leads the team with five wins by fall, and the fastest pin of the season at just ten seconds.
