Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University wrestling team opens the home season this Thursday as a part of the annual I Hate Winter Weekend. The Wolves will host the No. 1 Huskies of St. Cloud State at 7 p.m. from Wachs Arena. Thursday is also Student Night with free pizza and beverages as well as activities geared toward Northern State students.
NSU is currently 1-8 overall and 0-2 in the NSIC in duals this season. They are coming off a 37-6 loss to Southwest Minnesota State on the road.
Josh Moore and
Kaden Campbell notched the two wins for the Wolves. Moore defeated Nick Santos in a 3-2 decision, while Campbell defeated Griffin Osing in a 4-2 sudden victory win.
Paxton Mewes leads the active wrestlers with nine wins the season, holding a 9-3 record overall. The redshirt freshman was tallied a team leading five victories by fall this season. Bill Holtan is close behind with seven wins, notching a team leading four decision victories. Four Wolves hold victories in league action including Moore, Campbell,
Diego Gallegos, and
Tanner Olson.
