Wolves Prepare for Golden Eagles in Round Two of NSIC Tournament

Aberdeen, S.D. – After a 29-point victory over Upper Iowa, the Northern State women's basketball team advanced to the second round of the NSIC Tournament. NSU earned the second seed in the North Division with an NSIC record of 14-6, concluding regular season play on a 4-game win streak versus UMC, BSU, UMD, and SCSU. The Wolves are now 21-6 overall in the 2016-17 season.

Northern hosted the first round of the tournament for the fifth straight year, where they defeated Upper Iowa 58-29. The Wolves had a strong defensive contest, holding the Peacocks to a shooting percentage of 22.9 with 20 forced turnovers.

Senior Paige Waytashek reached her 1,000 career point milestone, leading the Wolves offensively against the Peacocks. Waytashek went 6-of-12 from the floor for 14 points and three steals.

As a team, the Wolves are currently shooting 45.4% from the floor, 31.6% from the arc, and 71.9% from the foul line, while averaging 68.8 points, 39.4 rebounds, 15.8 assists, 13.3 turnovers, 6.3 steals, and 4.2 blocks per game this season.

Tip-off between Northern State and Minnesota Crookston will be at 8 p.m. from the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D.
