Box Score Brookings, S.D. – The Northern State University women's basketball team fell to South Dakota State University 71-59 in their second exhibition game of the season. The Wolves drop to 0-2 against the Jacks in exhibition play.
The Wolves were out-shot by the Jackrabbits 35.9-to-40.0 from the floor, however NSU out-scored SDSU 13-8 on second chance shots. The Wolves recorded six steals and 15 assist, while the Jackrabbits tallied five steals and 14 assist. Both NSU and SDSU totaled 40 rebounds and six blocks each. Northern added 26 points in the paint, 13 second chance points, and six points off turnovers. The scored was tied on eight occasions with six lead changes through the four quarters. Northern had their opportunities with turnovers getting the best of them.
Jill Conrad led the Wolves with 23 points shooting 9-of-18 from the floor and nailing two of NSU's 3-point field goals.
Miranda Ristau was second on the team with 17 points and three blocks. Both Conrad and Ristau shot 3-of-4 from the free throw line and tallied ten rebounds each.
Haley Froelich came in third leading the Wolves off the bench with nine points, including one three-point field goal.
Alexis Tappe and
Brianna Kusler added five and two points respectively. Ristau led the team on defense with two steals, while Kusler tallied a team leading five assists.
NSU will be back on the court in Wachs Arena for their final exhibition game against Dakota Wesleyan at 7 p.m. next Tuesday, November 7th.
