Box Score Omaha, Neb. – The Northern State University women's basketball team pushed the 2017 BIG EAST Champion, Creighton Bluejays in their exhibition opener. NSU fell in the match-up, 68-63, despite a 13-0 run late in the fourth quarter.
The Wolves out-shot the Bluejays 46.4-to-46.0 in the game, notching 26 made field goals. Northern tallied 28 rebounds to Creighton's 31 in the contest, however matched CU with 21 assists. The Wolves added 11 steals and three blocks as a team, while scoring nine points off 18 CU turnovers, eight second chance points, and 12 points off the bench.
Miranda Ristau and
Jill Conrad led the both teams in the game, with 23 and 22 points respectively. Ristau shot 10-of-19 from the floor, while Conrad shot 9-of-12. The pair also led both teams on the boards, as Ristau tallied nine and Conrad notched eight.
Haley Froelich was third on the team, and led the Wolves off the bench, with seven points, knocking down one of the team's three made 3-point field goals.
Brianna Kusler and
Gabby Laimer followed with four and three points each.
Alexis Tappe and
Brynn Flakus were mirror images of each other leading the team with five assists, while adding one steal.
Jessi Marti led the team on defense with four steals, followed by Ristau with three.
Northern will head to Brookings tomorrow for a 6 p.m. exhibition contest with the Jackrabbits of South Dakota State University.
