California – The Northern State University quad of
Sasha Hovind,
Dakotah Bullen,
Devin Olson, and
Hanneke Oosterwegel took on California this weekend at the Mt. Sac Invite, the Cal State Relays, the Bryan Clay Invite, and the Beach Invitational.
Of the four Wolves competitors,
Devin Olson took on a three meets and two events in the three days of competition. The senior opened competition from the Cal State LA Twilight with a fourth place finish in the javelin. Olson's toss of 47.69m was the top NCAA Division II throw of the event. Olson placed 11
th in the second flight of the men's javelin with a 49.37m toss at the Bryan Clay Invite against some difficult Division I competition. The senior went on to the shot put from the Long Beach Invitational. Olson notched a 12.16m toss in his first outdoor shot competition of the season.
The Wolves dynamic distance duo of
Sasha Hovind and
Dakotah Bullen took on the Mt. Sac 10,000m run. Hovind finished with a new school record of 35:00.35 in 11
th overall, while Bullen finished close behind in 14
th with a time of 35:16.70. Bullen went on to place 32nd in the 5000m run with a time of 17:13.51.
Hanneke Oosterwegel was the final competitor for the Wolves on the weekend. She opened competition with a 12
th place finish in the 200m dash. She finished in 25.11 seconds as one of the top division II finishers in the event. Oosterwegel tallied a fourth place section finish in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:03.05. She placed 22
nd overall in the event against competition from both the NCAA Division I and II levels at the Mt. Sac relays. The freshman also added a school record time in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:01.37 from the Long Beach Invitational, which registered as the 12
th best time in NCAA Division II heading into the weekend.
The men's and women's track and field teams will return to action next Friday from the NSU Twilight meet beginning at 4 p.m. from Swisher Field.
