Wolves Face No. 1 Seed Emporia State in NCAA Central Region Tournament

– The Northern State women's basketball team earned a berth into the NCAA Division II Central Region Tournament for the third consecutive year. The No. 8 seeded Wolves will take on the No. I seed Emporia State University in the opening round.

NSU was handed a loss in the NSIC/Sanford Health Tournament to the crowed champions, the University of Sioux Falls. In the 71-63 battle, senior Devon Brecke led the team with 19 points, followed by sophomore Jill Conrad with 17 total. Conrad continues her standout season averaging 13.3 points per game and 6.9 boards per game, while shooting 51.0 percent from the floor and 92.1 percent from the foul line.

The Wolves finished second in the league in field goal percentage (42.9) and assists (16.0) and lead the NSIC in rebounding defense (32.2) and rebounding margin (+8.8). The Wolves enter tournament play against the Emporia State Hornets shooting 43.1% from the floor, 34.3% from the arc, and 73.3% from the foul line this season.

Northern State will take on the Hornets on Friday at 2:30 p.m. from Pittsburg, Kansas at the John Lance Arena on the Campus of Pittsburg State.
