Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University women's basketball team will continue NSIC action from home this weekend, taking on Minot State University and the University of Mary. The Wolves enter competition with an overall record of 4-1 and are currently 0-1 in league play after falling to MSU Moorhead 51-44 last Saturday.The women will also be signing posters following their game on Friday.
Early in the year, the Wolves are shooting 45.2% from the floor, 36.1% from the arc, and 74.4% from the foul line, while averaging 60.4 points, 34.8 rebounds, 16.2 assists, 16.4 turnovers, 5.6 steals, and 4.4 blocks per game. As a unit, NSU is first in the NSIC in scoring defense (48.6), field goal defense (30.5) and rebound defense (27.2).
In last week's efforts, senior
Paige Waytashek led the team scoring a season-high 13 points and a career-high eight rebounds versus the MSUM Dragons.
Jill Conrad continues to lead the team in points (74), scoring average (14.8), defensive rebounds (5.4), and free throws made (18). Conrad, along with teammate
Miranda Ristau are each ninth in the conference with a field goal percentage of 52.9. Ristau is second on the team in scoring (13.6), but leads the team in rebounds (39), rebound average (7.8), offensive rebounds (2.4), and blocked shots (2.0).
The Wolves will tip-off against Minot State at 6 p.m. on Friday and face U-Mary at 4 p.m. on Saturday from Wachs Arena.
