Aberdeen, S.D. - NSU Head Coach
Curt Fredrickson announced the signing of nine players to National Letters of Intent on Wednesday. The class includes players from South Dakota and Minnesota. Joie Spier (Madison, S.D.), Kendall Kohler (Alexandria, Minn.), Caryssa Mielitz (Big Stone City, S.D.), Sydney Franks (Plymouth, Minn.), Kaylee Porisch (Andover, Minn.), Haley Rithmiller (Webster, S.D.), Alayna Johnson (Dassel, Minn.), Mikayla Markuson (Detroit Lakes, Minn.), and Brooke Luitjens (Sioux Falls, S.D.) will join the Wolves for the 2017-18 season.

"We lose eight players over the next two years, so we wanted to bring in a large class" noted head coach Fredrickson. "With our varsity and junior varsity program the incoming athletes will have a chance to show us what they've got. Associate Head Coach

Joie Spier // Madison, S.D. // Oldham Ramona Rutland HS
Joie Spier is a 5-foot-11, forward, out of Oldham Ramona Rutland High School. She averaged 17 points and 14 rebounds per game as a prep, and has tallied 1,126 career points and 970 career rebounds. The ORR Raider is a 59.0% shooter from field goal range and 45.0% shooter from the arc as a junior, while averaging three assists and two steals per game. Spier is both an All-Conference and All-State performer the past four seasons for the Raiders.

Kendall Kohler // Alexandria, Minn. // Alexandria HS
Kendall Kohler is a 5-foot-5, point guard out of Alexandria High School. She averaged 15 points and six rebounds per game for the Cardinals. Kohler is a 3-time All-Conference honoree and 2-year varsity captain. She has been honored with the CLC Athlete of the Week award, the MSHL Academic Gold Award, and is a 3-time Section 8AAA runner-up.

Caryssa Mielitz // Big Stone City, S.D. // Milbank HS
Caryssa Mielitz is a 6-foot-2, forward/center out of Milbank High School. She averages 13 points and eight rebounds per game for the Bulldogs. She was named to the NEC All-Conference team a season ago. Mielitz was also named the Watertown Public Opinion Athlete of the Week. She is also the leading hitter for the Bulldog's volleyball team who are 17-6 this season.

Sydney Franks // Plymouth, Minn. // Wayzata HS
Sydney Franks is a 5-foot-7, point guard out of Wayzata High School. She is a 3-year letter winner at Wayzata, averaging nine points and two steals per game. Franks is an All-Conference Honorable Mention pick and a senior captain for the Trojans.

Kaylee Porisch // Andover, Minn. // Coon Rapids HS
Kaylee Porisch is a 6-foot-1, forward out of Coon Rapids High School. She averaged 15 points and seven rebounds per game this past season. Porisch is a 3-year starter and a 2-time All-Conference player. She is also a 2-time team MVP and the 2015 Cardinal of the year at Coon Rapids.

Haley Rithmiller // Webster, S.D. // Webster HS
Haley Rithmiller is a 5-foot-10, guard/forward out of Webster High School. She has averaged 23 points and 11 rebounds per game, while leading her team to multiple state tournament appearances. Rithmiller was named to the All-State first team and is a 2-time All-Conference performer. She is also a member of the Webster track and field and swim teams where she is a state place winner in the hurdles and in the pool.

Alayna Johnson // Dassel, Minn. // Dassel Cokato HS
Alayna Johnson is a 6-foot-1, post player out of Dassel Cokato High School. She averaged 13 points and eight rebounds per game, while shooting 51.0% from the floor. Johnson has already surpassed the 1,000 point barrier and is a 2-time All-Conference honoree. She is also a member of the volleyball and softball teams at Dassel Cokato where she is a 2-year captain and All-Conference pick.

Mikayla Markuson // Detroit Lakes, Minn. //Detroit Lakes HS
Mikayla Markuson is a 6-foot-1, forward out of Detroit Lakes High School. She averaged nine points and six rebounds per game, while shooting 51.0% from the floor. In 2015-16 she tallied 54 blocks. Markuson is a Mid-State All-Conference pick and was named to the Hugo's Holiday All-Tournament team in 2015.

Brooke Luitjens // Sioux Falls, S.D. // SF Lincoln HS
Brooke Luitjens is a 5-foot-9, guard out of Sioux Falls Lincoln High School. She is a 4-year letter winner for the Patriots. Luitjens led the team in field goal percentage, shooting 48.0%, and was second on the team in 3-point field goal percentage, shooting 36.0%. Her mother Renae Osthus and father Lance Luitjens both played basketball at Northern State.
