Live VideoAberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University volleyball team kicks off the 2015 season this Friday and Saturday from Winter Park, Florida at the Rollins College Invite. Friday slates the Wolves against Spring Hill College and the host Rollins College at 1 and 7 pm. Northern then matches up against Southeastern Oklahoma State and Southern New Hampshire, Saturday at 1 and 5 pm.
The Wolves enter the fall after going 19-10 overall and 12-8 in the NSIC in 2014. Northern returns a wealth of talent in seniors

Cari McGarvie, and
Renee Hoffman, as well as junior
Tori Biach. Sophomores
Mandy Kurosky and
Annika van Oosbree return to the court after playing significantly in their freshmen campaign. NSU was picked fifth overall in the NSIC preseason poll, after finishing sixth a season ago.
Northern return statistical leaders from a season ago in kills, Chambers with 404, in assists, Smith with 1,108, in digs, Hoffman with 364, and in blocks, McGarvie with 96.
Drew Smith finished the year second in the nation in assists per set with a 12.74 mark. Head coach
Brent Aldridge enters his fifth year at the helm for NSU with a record of 73-43.
About Spring Hill College The Badger enter 2015 after a 26-7 record a season ago. Spring Hill returns only two of its starters from a season ago and the team libero. SHC is led by head coach Peggy Martin in her seventh year with the program, where she has compiled a record of 168-43. The Badgers last post-season appearance came in 2013 as they made it to the pool play round of the NAIA Tournament. The Friday match-up will be the first ever meeting between the two teams.
About Rollins College Rollins finished 16-15 overall a season ago and fourth in the Sunshine State Conference. The Tars return two starters and their libero from 2014 with a total of 11 newcomers. RC is led by interim head coach Robbie Rowe in his first season at the helm. Rowe previously spent two years as the Tars assistant coach. Shannon McDonough returns to the right side for the Tars after being named the 2014 All-SSC Freshmen and Newcomer of the Year. This is the first meeting between the Wolves and the Tars.
About Southeastern Oklahoma The Savage Storm finished 2014 with a record of 18-14 overall and 10-4 in the Great American Conference. Southeastern returns ten from a season ago with five newcomers. Brianna Barry leads the Savage Storm in her second season as head coach. The Wolves and the Storm have faced off once before, with NSU coming away with the victory.
About Southern New HampshireThe Penmen enter the 2015 season after finishing 17-11 overall a season ago. SNHU welcomes two newcomers to the roster, while retuning eight from 2014. Head coach Peter Viteritti leads the Penmen for the fifth season, after compiling a record of 45-56 in his tenure. 2014 was the best season in program history of SNHU, reaching the Northeast-10 Championship for the first season since 2003. The squad returns their four leading hitters in addition to setter Catherine Cotton and libero Maeghan Higgins. Marisa Coronis enters her sophomore campaign after being named the 2014 conference Rookie of the Year.
