Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State women's basketball team looks to extend their two game winning streak this Saturday from Wachs arena as they are scheduled to take on Minnesota State University Moorhead. The Wolves have compiled an early 2015-16 overall record of 7-2 and remain 3-2 in NSIC play. MSUM stands 7-1 overall and 3-1 in the conference, falling to St. Cloud State. Northern State trails St. Cloud State and MSUM by one game for the lead in the NSIC North Division.
The Wolves had a solid weekend in the NSIC home openers, defeating Minnesota Duluth and St. Cloud State 71-62 and 71-68. Four NSU starters are averaging double-digit scoring through the first ten games of the season, including;
Paige Waytashek with 10.1,
Devon Brecke with 11.8,
Jill Conrad with 12.0 and
Lauren Deadrick 11.1.
Senior
Lauren Deadrick is currently second in the NSIC in rebounds, averaging 9.9 per game, and is coming off of a career high rebound match versus St. Cloud State with 15 total.
The Wolves enter the game out-rebounding their opponents by 11.7 boards per game and out-scoring their opponents by 5.7 points per game. Northern is shooting 42.5% from the floor, 27.4% from 3-point range, and 74.5% from the foul line this season.
Jill Conrad has boosted the team average by shooting 96.2 percent from the line.
NSU will tip-off at 4 p.m. on Saturday against the MSUM Dragons from Wachs Arena.
