Listen LiveAberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University football team is set for week five of NSIC North play against No. 18 Minnesota Duluth. The Wolves and Bulldogs will kick-off at 1 p.m. from Swisher Field in the 60
th Annual Shrine Game. The local Aberdeen Shriners have a variety of activities planned for Saturday including a halftime parade (
click here to read about all that is happening). Football fans will also be admitted to the NSU volleyball match against No. 20 Augustana at 5 p.m. for free with their football ticket.
The Wolves enter the match-up with the Bulldogs on a four game win streak in the North Division and a shut-out of U-Mary a weekend ago.
Adrian Krupka was named both the NSIC and D2Football.com special teams player of the week after he led the team with three made field goals, and averaged a season high 44.4 yards per punt. What a game it was a week ago for Qdoba Athlete of the Week,
Taylor Zemlicka. The junior led the team with nine total tackles, seven of which were solo stops. Zemlicka also tallied his first interception and fumble return of the season in the Wolves 37-0 victory over the University of Mary. Taylor currently sits second on the team in total tackles with 53 this season, behind senior
Devin Olson.
Nicholas Truen leads the team in rushing with 483 total yards and five touchdowns, while averaging 69.0 yards per game.
Conner Doherty leads the NSU receivers with 404 yards and two touchdowns while averaging 50.5 yards per game. After a strong defensive weekend
Taylor Zemlicka sits second on the team with 27 total tackles behind senior
Devin Olson with 65 this season.
About the Bulldogs • Minnesota Duluth enters the weekend with a 6-2 record overall and the No. 18 ranking in this week's AFCA Top-25 Poll, with losses to No. 1 Minnesota State and No. 12 Sioux Falls.
• UMD is led by head coach Curt Wiese in his third season with the program.
• Duluth is averaging over 200 yards rushing and receiving this season, and has out-scored their opponents 316-144.
