Aberdeen, S.D. - Sadie Stotebery sealed the deal for the Wolves in their 67-62 quarterfinal win over the Augustana Vikings Saturday. Stotesbery and the Wolves will now face off against the Minnesota State University Mavericks in semifinal action Monday from the Sanford Pentagon. Game time is set for noon between the two squads. Fans will be able to view the game from the comforts of their home as the game will be broadcasted on the MidCo Sports Network.

The Wolves secured their fourth straight win in the NSIC quarterfinals Saturday against Augustana College. Earlier this season NSU fell to Augie after poor defensive play and an excess of team turnovers. The second time around the Wolves came out on top 67-62 from the Sanford Pentagon. Northern was led by Rachel Krogman and Sadie Stotesbery who tallied 21 and 17 points respectively. Krogman recorded her 13th double-double of the season with 13 rebounds in the match-up. The Wolves out-rebounded the Vikings 40-31 and scored 30 points in the paint. The game maker for Northern was their 90.0 shooting percentage from the free-throw line which tallied 27 Wolf points. NSU cut down on turnovers and stopped the Viking offense which had come back from an 18 point deficit. Northern must hold off the hot Maverick offense to secure a victory and move on to the NSIC Championship game.

Minnesota State

The Mavericks are coming off a quarterfinal victory over University of Mary. Unlike the Wolves, Minnesota State will play back to back games after defeating the Marauders  95-71 on Sunday.  The Mavericks are on a high as of late with the longest active win streak among conference teams at 12 games. The squad is out scoring their opponents by and average of 20+ points in the last 12 games with a staggering 106-63 victory over Minnesota Crookston.

Earlier this Season

Earlier this season the Wolves captured a 79-63 win over the Mavericks from Aberdeen, led by senior Alison Kusler with 28 points. NSU's five starters accounted for 63 points and 39 rebounds in the win. Northern scored their season high of 34 points off free-throws, while they held Minnesota State to 40 percent from the line. Twenty-seven points off free-throws led Northern State to a 50 point second half. The win marked the first over a ranked opponent (Minnesota State was No. 17 at the time) in the 2013-14 season. The Wolves held Minnesota State leading scorer Ali Wilkinson (who averaged 20.1 points at the time) to just 12 in the game.
