Wolves Open Regional Tournament Vs. Central Missouri

The No. 6 seed Northern State women's basketball team opens the NCAA Central Regional Tournament Friday at 7:30 p.m. when the Wolves face-off with third-seeded Central Missouri. The regional is held in Searcy, Ark., and is hosted by Harding University.

About the Jennies
Central Missouri heads into the tournament with a 25-4 record on the season and won the MIAA Regular Season Title with a 17-2 mark in conference play. The Jennies, like the Wolves, lost in their conference tournament title game. UCM was defeated by the top seed in the region, Emporia State, 75-71.

Central Missouri is led by MIAA Player of the Year Keuna Flax, who averaged 20 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. The forward was a unanimous first team selection and led the league in scoring for the second consecutive season. Flax also tied for the MIAA lead shooting 56.4 percent from the floor. Guard BreAnna Lewis was a Second Team All-MIAA selection. Lewis averaged 13.8 points per game and 2.4 assists a contest. UCM is led by Dave Slifer who is in his 10th season with the Jennies.

Northern Notes
The Wolves are making their first trip to the regional tournament since 2011 when they lost in the regional semifinal. This will be the first meeting all-time between NSU and the Jennies.

The NSIC North Division Champions are led by All-NSIC First Team selection Alison Kusler and second team honoree Rachel Krogman. Kusler led the Wolves averaging 15.6 points per game this season and also averaged 5.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game. Krogman averaged 15.5 points and 10 rebounds per game for the Wolves this season and was also named to the NSIC All-Tournament Team last week down in Sioux Falls.

All tickets for the regional are general admission. Tickets cost $8 for adults and $5 for students. Tickets can be purchased at the door at Rhodes Field House in Searcy. Fans can also follow the action from the comfort of their own homes as the games will be streamed live via webcast HERE and fans can also follow the live stats HERE.

Friday's game will be broadcast live on 94.1 FM The Rock. The station will be using the feed from KWKJ in Warrensburg, Mo. (Central Missouri broadcast) to air the game.
