Bemidji, Minn. – Northern State University women's basketball secured their ninth straight victory, the longest active streak currently in the NSIC, with a 69-55 win over Bemidji State. The Wolves are now 14-2 on the year and 10-2 in the league.
Rachel Krogman recorded her second straight double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds in the win. Krogman added two assists and three steals in the match-up as she was 8-15 from the floor and a perfect 2-2 from the line.
Megan Mutchler was close behind with 15 points and seven rebounds. Tonight marked,
Alison Kusler's twelfth straight game in double-digit scoring as she tallied 14 points. Kusler added six team rebounds and two assists in her 35 minutes of play.
Northern continued to shoot above 40 percent from the floor going 26-55 in the game. The Wolves out-rebounded the Beavers 45-24, with 14 offensive rebounds. Players off the bench made a larger impact tonight scoring 12 points and bringing down five total rebounds. NSU entered the half up by nine and never looked back as they led the entire game and shot 50 percent from the floor in the second half.
MacKinzie Magner and
Paige Waytashek scored the lone three pointers of the night for the Wolves. The women held BSU to a 36.4 shooting percentage from the floor and 73.3 percentage from the free-throw line. Solid play in the paint by Krogman and Mutchler specifically resulted in 26 NSU points. The Wolves still look to cut down on turnovers, as they tallied 14 in the game which resulted in nine Beaver scores.
The Wolves will remain on the road as they travel to St. Cloud State and Minnesota Duluth next weekend with game times set for 6 p.m. and 4 p.m. respectively.
