Duluth, Minn. - The Northern State Women's basketball team pulls at the 61-57 last minute win against University of Minnesota Duluth. The Wolves snap a two game losing streak improving to 15-8 overall and 11-8 in league play, while the Bulldogs fall to a season total of 11-12 and 8-11 in the loop. Junior
Alison Kusler stays hot for the Wolves as she scored a team leading 19 points on the night and connected for four assits.
Up by two at the half, 28-26, the Wolves would continue back and forth play with the Bulldogs throughout the second half. With 58 seconds to go in the game and Northern down by one,
Rachel Krogman would connect for a two point jumper and three free-throws to lock in the win for the Wolves. Krogman added 16 points in the game with seven rebounds.
Sophmore
Megan Mutchler also stood out for the Wolves scoring a total of 16 points and pulling in nine rebounds on the night. As a team, NSU shot a whopping 54.3 percent from the field; scoring ten points off of offensive rebounds. Kusler would also contiue her hot streak from the free-throw line going 7-9. Sophmore
Sadie Stotesbery accounted for a team high two blocks on the night.
Although out-rebounding the Wolves, Duluth was unable to take advantage, only scoring five second chance attempts and shooting 32.3 percent as a team from the field. Katrina Newman led the Bulldogs with 19 points, while Abby Whitney added 13 and sister Jessica Newman scrounged up nine rebounds.
NSU continues action from St. Cloud, Minn. tomorrow night beginning at 4 p.m.. The Wolves then will return home to finish up regular season play from the Civis Arena Febraury 22nd and 23rd.
