Season High Points Lead Wolves to Fourth Straight Victory

Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University Women's Basketball team took the 23 point win over Mayville State University scoring a season high 81 points, while holding the Comets to 58. The Wolves improve to 4-0 on the year with the NSIC season fast approaching.

It was a night of statistics for the Wolves, beginning with junior Rachel Krogman matching her career high of 23 points. Krogman also recorded her third double-double of the season with 11 total rebounds. Junior Megan Mutchler also scored a season high 18 points going a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line and a stellar 7-9 from the floor. Redshirt sophomore Mykenzie Spaulding scored a season high seven points in just a few minutes on the court averaging just about a point a minute. Both Alison Kusler and Sadie Stotesbery led the team with four assists, in the team's 21 total.

NSU held the visiting Comets to shooting 28.8% from the floor, while forcing a total of 16 team turnovers. The 16 MSU turnovers resulted in 14 Northern points in the game.  The Wolves gave up a season low four turnovers, with no play recording more than one. Solid play in the paint resulted in 42 team points and 19 offensive rebounds. Kusler and Kara Hofschild added two steals a piece to the teams season high of eight.

The Wolves went on a 23 point run, with only 5 Comet scores, beginning at the 17 minute mark in the second half with scores coming from Krogman, Mutchler, Devon Brecke, Hofschild, Sami Smith, and MacKinzie Magner. This run led to a 42 point half for the Wolves and buckets from 11 different Wolves, with plenty of players coming off the bench. As a team, Northern compiled a total of 25 points off the bench in the game.   

The women will now enter the NSIC conference season with a four game win streak. Northern will start play on the road at MSU Moorhead. The Wolves and Dragons will match-up (11/30) beginning at 4 p.m. from Moorhead, Minn..
