Coach Fredrickson's Post-Game Comments
Aberdeen, S.D. - A back and forth game between Northern State University and the University of Sioux Falls in NSIC Women's Basketball play, was claimed by the Wolves with a score of 54-48. NSU improves to 12-6 for the season and 7-5 in the league, as USF drops to a mark of 8-8 and 5-7 in conference play.
Down by one at the half, the Wolves came out firing with 30 points in the remainder of the game. With 8:27 remaining in the game the Cougars would tie up the game at 39 with a field goal by Chrissy Strassburg. The back and forth battle would continue for six more minutes until Laura Johnson, of USF, would once again tie the game up at 48 all. The Wolves would score their next six points off free throws due to Cougar fouls.
The Wolves defense held USF to a second half field goal percentage of 27.6. Junior Bailey Bouman lead the Cougars with 12 points and shot 66.7 percent from arch.
Alison Kusler scored a game leading 21 points. Closely behind was
Rachel Krogman with 18 points and 14 rebounds. Senior
Sarah Hintz added seven rebounds in the effort.
The Wolves continue North Division play on the road Jan. 25th and 26th verse Minnesota Crookston and Bemidji State at 6 and 4 p.m. respectively. NSU will renturn home Feb. 8th and 9th for the I Hate Winter Weekend.
