Aberdeen, S.D. - The Northern State Wolves handed the five-game-win-streaking Concordia-St. Paul Golden Bears a 13 point loss with a final score of 63-50 Saturday afternoon in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference women's basketball play. Sophomore
Sadie Stotesbery lead the attack for the Wolves with a season high 16 points and seven rebounds. Stotesbery was also 4-4 from the 3-point line helping the Wolves to a 71.4 percent effort from long range.
NSU now stands at 9-4 on the season and 5-4 in NSIC play, while the Golden Bears fall to 8-5 and 6-3 in the conference.
After a hard fought first half, the score was tied at 30 all between the Wolves and Golden Bears. Coming out hot in the second half, NSU scored 33 points to Concordia-St. Paul's 20. The second half was lead by junior
Alison Kusler who scored eight of her 12 points and sophomore
Rachel Krogman who reeled in eight rebounds in the half. Krogman also added 10 points in the effort.
Sixteen was the number of the night for the Wolves as the forced 16 turnovers, scored 16 points of turnovers and lead the second half by 16 points at one point.
In one of their top efforts of the year the Wolves shot 92.3 percent from the free throw line, with junior
Alison Kusler and senior
Sarah Hintz both both shooting 100 percent.
The Northern State women's basketball team travels to Minnesota State University Moorhead on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. game time. The Wolves will return home Feb. 18 and 19 to take on Southwest Minnesota State and University of Sioux Falls and 6 p.m. and 5 p.m. respectively in the Barnett Center.
