Wolves host final homestand of season

SETTING THE STAGE:
The Wolves return for the final home stand of the season having lost 3 out of their last four. This past weekend the Wolves suffered a defeat to Augustana College 72-61. Mikayal Barondeau paced the Wolves with her best game of the season with 18 points and nine rebounds while clinching 1,000 points in her career. The following night, the Wolves nearly pulled the upset over #3 Wayne State before falling 55-50.

The Series:
NSU leads the series with SCSU 6-1. The Wolves have won four straight.
NSU leads the series with CSP 16-12. The Golden Bears won the last meeting.

About the Huskies:
St. Cloud State comes into the weekend 13-10 (6-5 away) while 10-9 in the NSIC and riding a four game winning streak. The Huskies are coming off weekend victories against Minnesota State (64-59) and Southwest Minnesota State (83-55). The Huskies are led by Jessica Benson at 10 points per game and 5.6 rebounds per game. St. Cloud leads the NSIC with 12.17 steals per game.

About the Golden Bears:
Concordia-St. Paul enters this weekend with a 10-15 record (2-8 away) while pacing a 7-12 record in the NSIC. CSP beat SMSU 59-51 while take a defeat to Minnesota State 65-71 last weekend. The Golden Bears pace four players in double figures, led by Anika Whiting at 10.8 points per game. Carissa Wolyniec and Rachel Hansen each average 10.4 and 10.2 respectively.


Who 2 Watch 4:
Mikayla Barondeau (F, 6-1, Sr. Frederick, S.D./Frederick-Leola HS) became the 28th player in Northern State women's basketball histo three-point basket with the shot clock expiring. Barondeau has quietly been putting her best weekends together of the season as of late, as she averaged 13.5 points and 7.5 rebounds a game in the losses to Augustana College and Wayne State while shooting 50% from the field. Barondeau had 18 points and nine rebounds, both game highs, in the 72-61 loss to AC, while scoring nine points and grabbing six rebounds in the near upset of Wayne State.
