ABERDEEN, S.D. -
An off night shooting the ball and a clean-up effort on the glass by the visiting MSU Moorhead Dragons turned into a 66-54 set-back for the Northern State women's basketball program Saturday night in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference opener.

NSU converted on just 27.9 percent of its attempts from the floor - including just 2-for-11 from long range - in the loss.  The Dragons also out-rebounded the Wolves by a 45-35 margin, limiting the Wolves to just nine second-chance points.

The loss, NSU's first of the season, dropped the Wolves to 4-1 overall and 0-1 in NSIC play.  The Dragons, though similarly maligned in three-point shooting, were a solid 43.1 percent from the floor overall while improving to 4-1 on the season and 1-0 in the loop.

Though NSU never led in the contest, the Wolves kept MSU Moorhead within two or three possessions throughout much of the game, making up for missed shots by forcing the Dragons into 17 turnovers.  MSUM pushed the lead to double digits only once before the Wolves were forced to send the Dragons to the line at game's end to stop the clock.

NSU was led by 16 points by sophomore Rachel Krogman, who just missed her fourth double-double of the season, finishing with nine rebounds.  Alison Kusler added 12 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the free throw line before fouling out of the contest.

The Dragons were led by Megan Strese's 21 points and eight rebounds.  Morgan Zabel and Kaycee Charette added 10 points apiece.
