Wolves set to take on future NSIC foe

Setting the Stage: The Wolves enter Tuesday's non-conference match up, against future NSIC foe Minot State, after snapping a three game skid this past weekend. The Wolves fell to Minnesota State 62-59 before beating Southwest Minnesota State 69-55 on Saturday evening. The three game losing streak was the longest in more than two years, when the Wolves lost five straight in December of 2009. In the victory over SMSU, senior Mikayla Barondeau had a season high 13 points to go along with six rebounds. Junior Sarah Hintz nearly had her first double-double as she snagged nine rebounds while scoring 11 points.   

Last game vs the Beavers: The Wolves and the Beavers have not played since the 1997-98 season where Minot State came away an 88-82 overtime victory in Minot, N.D. Jammi Coyle led teh Wolves with 25 points while Memory Johannsen had a team high eight rebounds.

About the Beavers: Minot State enters tonights game with a 10-7 record (3-3 away) while posting a 1-4 record against future NSIC mates. The Beavers won 83-47 last time out, holding Black Hills State to just 16 made field goals. Pacing three players in double digits, sophomore Carly Boag leads the Beavers with 15.6 points per game. Sister Christina Boag is second with 10.6 per game, while Katie Hardy is right at 10 a game. Carly Boag, the leader in shot attempts also leads the team by connecting on 53.3 percent of her shots.

Who 2 Watch 4: Emily Becken (PG 5-7 Sr. Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial HS) had another solid weekend for the Wolves, which snapped a three game losing streak. The Wolves leading scorer had a game high 20 points in a three point loss to the streaking Minnesota State Mavericks. In the Wolves 14 point victory over Southwest Minnesota State, Becken scored 16 points while hitting 7 of 8 at the free throw line. For the weekend, Becken averaged 18 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game, while posting a solid 1.7 assist/turnover ratio.
