MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Northern State University women's basketball team entered halftime Friday with a two-point lead over #22 Minnesota State University-Moorhead, but a poor shooting second half combined with a strong second stanza by the hosts proved to be the difference as the Wolves fell to the Dragons by a 60-44 final.
Northern State falls to 10-9 on the season, and back to .500 in conference play at 6-6. The Dragons improve to 15-4 and 8-4 in the very tough NSIC.
The Wolves were outrebounded for only the fourth time all season and shot fewer free throws than their opponents for only the second time.
The Wolves came to their two-point halftime lead by holding the Dragons to less than 30% shooting as they shot better than 44% from the floor, but the second half proved to be the exact opposite as the Wolves hit a cold streak and shot 29% and the home team shot 50%. The Wolves were also only 3-11 from the three-point line and the home team shot 9-18 on the game.
The Wolves failed to put any one player in double-digits as they were held to their lowest scoring total of the season, and lowest since they lost to MSU-Moorhead on January 5th of last year by a 38-58 final.

Emily Becken and
Mikayla Barondeau led the squad in scoring with Becken recording nine points, Rabenberg eight, and Barondeau seven. Barondeau also led the team with six rebounds and had two blocks and a steal in the losing effort.
The Wolves are now 6-2 following a loss and try to rebound tomorrow night in Crookston, Minn. as they take on the University of Minnesota, Crookston Golden Eagles, who were losers to the University of Mary by a 95-70 final on Friday.
Northern State University is an NCAA Division II affiliated school participating in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and is located in Aberdeen, South Dakota.
