BOX SCORE

CROOKSTON, Minn. - The Wolves of Northern State claimed a 77-62 win over Minnesota, Crookston on Saturday night at Lysaker Gymnasium.  The victory puts the Wolves back in the win column and keeps the Golden Eagles without a league win.  Northern is 8-9 overall and 4-4 in the NSIC, while UM, Crookston is 4-12 overall and 0-7 in the NSIC.

Minnesota, Crookston took an early lead in the game as the Wolves were off their mark from the field.  Northern got their game together, however, and finished the half with an impressive 56.7% shooting mark.  They took the lead for the first time at the 14:00 minute mark with an Amanda Glenz layup and never forfeited the advantage for the remainder of the game.

Forward Noelle Hall helped her team stretch out a nine point lead in the first half, scoring eight of NSU's 11 points from the 12 minute mark until the 5:45 mark, when the Wolves led 28-19.  Northern's seniors ended the half with a 14-8 run, with three-pointers from Jaclyn Arns and Ryanne Brockhaus and jumpers from Hall and Glenz.  The Wolves led 45-32 at the half, with the Golden Eagles shooting 36.7% from the field.

Northern kept UM, Crookston at bay throughout much of the second period, leading by as many as 26 points, 69-43 with 8:17 left in the game.  The Golden Eagles shot better in the second half (40.0%) and attempted a comeback, but the Wolves' dominance on the boards and in the paint was too much to handle.  Northern doubled Crookston's rebound performance, grabbing 48 boards, including 17 on the offensive end, to UMC's 24.  This tied their season high rebounding mark and was the largest rebounding margin (+24) of the year.

Brockhaus scored a career high 13 points in the game, shooting 5-for-9 from the field.  Hall marked her tenth double double of the season with 24 points and 15 rebounds.  Entering the weekend as the NSIC's leading scorer, Hall increased her scoring average to 18.9 points per game with two great performances.  Both Arns and Glenz had a strong game as scorers, finishing with 14 and nine points each, respectively.  Assisting on the rebound front was Krissy OToole, who recorded a career high eight rebounds.

Leading the way for the Golden Eagles was Jamie Zelinsky with 17 points.  Gina Jaroszewski had 12 points and led her team with seven rebounds.  Diana Taddy had ten points.  UMC shot 38.2% from the field.

Northern returns to Wachs Arena next Saturday evening, hosting the University of Mary at 6:00 p.m.  The game will be televised on KSFY tv.
