Wolves Turn Over 60-90 Decision To Bulldogs

DULUTH, Minn. - Northern State's women's basketball team fell 60-90 to the Bulldogs of Minnesota Duluth at Romano Gymnasium on Sunday afternoon.  Turnovers spelled disaster for the Wolves in the game and the team now sits at 7-6 overall, while UMD improves to 3-10 overall.

The Bulldogs started the game with a 14-0 run and forced four NSU turnovers before the Wolves got on the board in the fifth minute of the game.  Minnesota Duluth shot 60.0% from the field (18-30) in the half and led by as many as 28 points.  UMD led 47-19 at the break.

The Wolves improved their shooting performance in the second half, hitting 46.4% (13-28) of their shots.  They also took better care of the ball and committed just seven turnovers before the final buzzer.  The Bulldogs continued to shoot well in the second half and knocked down another 13 field goals to reach the 90 point mark, their highest scoring game of the season.  Northern could not contain the Bulldogs from beyond the arc and gave up total 14 three-pointers.

Noelle Hallhad 13 second half points and finished the game as the team's leading scorer with 16 points.  She also had nine rebounds.  Jaclyn Arns hit three long range shots and had 13 final points, while Amanda Glenz hit all four of her shot attempts and had ten points.  The team shot 40.8% from the field and were even with the Bulldogs with 28 rebounds.  They had 20 turnovers that led to 21 UMD points.

Minnesota Duluth had five players finish the game in double figures for scoring.  Stephanie Reiter paced the team with 18 points and had four assists, while Venessa Ostergaard and Katy Freeman each added 16 points.  The Bulldogs finished with a 56.4% shooting mark, including 66.7%  (14-21) from three-point range.

The Wolves return to Wachs Arena next weekend, hosting Concordia-St. Paul and MSU Moorhead in NSIC play on Friday and Saturday.  Both games tip off at 6:00 p.m.
