BEMIDJI, Minn. - Northern State's volleyball team won their second straight match with a 3-0 downing of Bemidji State on Saturday afternoon, 30-28, 30-20, 30-25. The win sets the Wolves back at the .500 mark in NSIC play, 6-6 on the season and 11-9 overall. Bemidji drops to 8-10 and 4-8 in the league.
The Wolves' play continued to improve as the match wore on. They had 52 kills in the match, including 20 in the third game. Northern also tallied ten service aces, their second consecutive match with double figures in aces. Their blocking game was also on tonight as they notched nine blocks against the Beavers. Bemidji had just 35 kills while hitting .076.
Middle blocker
Kelsey Aden tallied 14 kills against Bemidji State and hit .238 in the match. She also led the team with five block assists.
Emily Knaeble and
Stephanie Perez each had nine kills.
Stephanie Nygaard came up with 20 of NSU's 63 digs. Taking over sole setting duties was
Megan Gilbraith, who assisted hitters on 48 kills.
The Beavers were led by Brittney Burns with 11 kills and 12 digs. The defensive effort was led by Brie Groskreutz who had 22 digs.
The Wolves host nationally-ranked Southwest Minnesota State on Wednesday, October 17 at 7:00 pm at Wachs Arena.
