Pre-NSU: Donnie Lucas is a 5-foot-11, 175-pound defensive back out of Brown Deer High School and Wisconsin Stevens Point. As a prep, Lucas was a 3-year starter and team captain for the Falcons. He was a 2-time All-Woodland League selection at both wide receiver and defensive back. Lucas moved on to UWSP, where he tallied 75 tackles in three seasons. He added 35 pass break-ups and five interceptions in those three seasons. Lucas was a 2-time WIAC All-Conference selection and a third team All-West Region pick. He is the son of Trinace Lucas.
