Aberdeen, S.D. – A pair of sharp shooting evenings for
Simon Akena and
Tobi Obiora led the Northern State University men's basketball team to a 7-point victory over Minnesota Crookston. The two teams traded 11 leads in the contest with the largest lead of eight points coming the in final two minutes of regulation.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Northern scored 39 points in each half, leading 39-37 through the first and out-scoring Crookston 39-34 in the second
- The Wolves shot 41.5% from the floor, 31.2% from the 3-point line, and 71.4% from the foul line in the win, with four student-athletes shooting 50.0% or better from the floor
- NSU edged out UMC in rebounds 39-38, recording 13 offensive boards
- In addition, they led the contest with 13 assists, four blocks, and nine made 3-pointers
- The Wolves led the contest with 30 points in the paint and 13 points off nine turnovers, adding 12 points off the bench and five second chance points
- Simon Akena led four in double figures with 21 points, knocking down 9-of-17 from the floor, and seven rebounds and three assists
- Tobi Obiora nearly had a double-double with 17 points and a team leading nine rebounds, shooting 70.0% from the floor
- Joshua Book and James Glenn followed with 12 and ten points respectively, with Book dishing out a team leading four assists
- Benjamin Bowen led NSU off the bench with six points, matched by Marshawn Smith with six points, four rebounds, and two assists
- Ty Rogers finished the evening second on the team with eight rebounds in 11 minutes of action, adding three points, one steal, and one assist
