WOLVES FALL TO MARAUDERS 79-69 IN OVERTIME

ABERDEEN, S.D. – After trailing 24-9 a minute and a half into the second quarter, Northern State flipped the floor, fighting back to earn an extra period before losing 79-67 in overtime. In the game, the Wolves tallied 69 points, 38 rebounds, 14 assists, six steals, three blocks and 13 turnovers while shooting 38.2% from the floor, 28.6% from long range and 73.3% from the charity stripe.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Marauders got off fast, quickly jumping to an eight-point lead in the middle of the first.
  • After four free throws to start the second, the Wolves were revived by a 3-point basket courtesy of Carli Kuyper
  • Kuyper buried three of her four 3-pointers in the game, recording 13 points and four rebounds
  • Izzy Moore knocked down two jumpers before Kuyper added another 3-pointer for the Wolves to narrow the deficit to nine points
  • Senior Moore earned 21 points, five boards, two assists, two steals and a block while shooting 50% from the floor, 25% from deep and 100% from the line
  • Both sides were in their elements in the last three minutes of the second, with the Wolves down just four points going into the half
  • After a close third quarter, Northern State still found itself down five points
  • A 21-point fourth quarter for the Wolves was capped off by a Moore layup thrown in by Morgan Fiedler to tie the game and send it into overtime
  • UMary went on an 8-0 run at the start of overtime to win the game
  • Northern State's defense played very well against one of the best 3-point teams in the NSIC, holding the Marauders to just 7.1% from deep in the game (1-14)

  • Fiedler notched five points and five assists in the game
  • For UMary, Bergen Kinnebrew showed her dominance, recording a 35-point (12 rebounds) double-double, shooting 47.4% (9-19) from the field and 94.4% (17-18) from the free throw line
  • Allison Undlin followed suit with a 20-point performance, securing eight boards and three assists in the game, while Anna Lenzen added 12 points and six rebounds for the Marauders
