Aberdeen, S.D. – I Hate Winter Weekend 2026 was capped off Saturday with a rebound by the Northern State University men's basketball team, defeating Southwest Minnesota State. The Wolves rallied from a first half deficit, out-scoring the Mustangs 36-26 in the second half for the eighth win of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Wolves tallied 34 points in the first half and shot well at a 53.9% clip, however trailed by three
- They led the contest shooting 48.1% from the floor and 47.8% from the 3-point line and held the Mustangs to just 3-of-13 from beyond the arc
- In addition, Northern out-rebounded Southwest 36-31 in the win, recording nine offensive boards, and led the contest with 18 assists, 11 made 3-pointers, and three blocks
- NSU scored 26 points off the bench, 24 points in the paint, and eight points off turnovers in the game
- Marshawn Smith led the charge for the Wolves with 27 points, knocking down 11-of-21 from the floor with three made 3-pointers
- Nelson Reynolds and James Glenn followed off the bench with 12 and ten points respectively, going a combined 6-of-6 from the 3-point line
- Tobi Obiora recorded his fourth double figure rebound game of the season, leading the team with 12 off the glass and a team best two blocks
- Joshua Book dished out a team leading ten assists, a career high for the junior, and added eight points and five rebounds
