Aberdeen, SD. – The Northern State University baseball team closed out the series with a 9-6 victory over Wayne State. The Wolves mounted a strong rally in the sixth and seventh innings, capitalizing on timely hits to secure the win.
Nick Friedges powered the offense with a three-hit performance, including two doubles and five RBIs. Despite committing three errors, NSU scored nine runs on seven hits to seal the victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Northern State struck first with a double to left field by Nick Friedges, scoring Dillon Castellanos and Brennan Phillips in the first inning
- Friedges extended the lead to 3-0 by stealing home
- After a scoreless second inning, Wayne State tied the game with three runs in the third
- In the fifth inning, the Wildcats added two more runs to take a 5-3 lead
- The Wolves responded in the sixth when Friedges singled through the right side, bringing in Michael Benevides
- Benson drove in Phillips with a groundout to shortstop to tie the game
- Jack Weidner then gave NSU the lead with a single to right field, scoring Friedges
- WSC tied it again in the top of the seventh on a passed ball
- In the bottom of the seventh, Mike Hudson scored on a wild pitch to regain the lead for NSU
- Friedges extended the Wolves' lead with a double to left-center, bringing in Castellanos and Benevides for a 9-6 advantage
- Hunter Brown earned the win with 7.0 innings pitched and five strikeouts against 30 batters
- Jack Helleloid secured the save with 2.0 innings of relief, allowing only one hit
- NSU finished the game with nine runs on seven hits and three errors
