Multis and Field Events Kick Off Dewey Donat Classic

Aberdeen, S.D. – Northern State University track and field teams competed in day one of the Dewey Donat Classic. Nick Olson won first place in the hammer throw. Birnir Vagn Finnsson, and Morgan Sheldon lead the decathlon and heptathlon going into day two.
 
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
 
  • Birnir Vagn Finnsson sits in first place after day one with 3,382 points and marks of 11.28 in the 100m, 6.56m in the long jump, 11.07m in shot put, 1.83m in high jump, and 53.30 in the 400m
  • Ross Kortenbusch sits in fourth place with 2,869 points and marks of 11.74 in the 100m, 5.45m in the long jump, 11.77m in shot put, 1.65m in high jump, and 54.99 in the 400m
  • Sean Juengst sits in sixth place with 2,623 points and marks of 12.53 in the 100m, 5.79m in the long jump, 9.64m in shot put, 1.74m in high jump, and 57.86 in the 400m
  • Ethan Barnett, Nick Olson, and Kaden St. Pierre took seventh, eleventh, and twelfth in the discus throw with marks of 43.22m, 39.95m, and 39.60m
  • Nick Olson was the champion in the hammer throw with a distance of 54.68m
 
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
 
  • Morgan Sheldon sits in first place after day one with 2,609 points and marks of 15.50 in the 100m hurdles, 1.52m in the high jump, 10.23m in shot put, and 27.84 in the 200m
  • Tayla Dobrenski sits in second place with 2,275 points and marks of 16.42 in the 100m hurdles, 1.52m in the high jump, 8.69m in shot put, and 29.42 in the 200m
  • Jordan West sits in third place with 2,052 points and marks of 17.98 in the 100m hurdles, 1.46m in the high jump, 8.84m in shot put, and 29.33 in the 200m
  • Addison Cumbow sits in fifth place with 1,938 points and marks of 17.96 in the 100m hurdles, 1.34m in the high jump, 8.20m in shot put, and 28.60 in the 200m
  • Cassidy Gough placed third in the hammer throw with a mark of 48.77m
  • Danielle Hawley placed tenth in the discus throw with a mark of 34.60m
UP NEXT
The Northern State University track and field team continue tomorrow at the Dewy Donat Classic. Multi-Events continue at 10:00 a.m. and both running and field events start at 12:00 p.m.
