Aberdeen, S.D. - The Northern State University baseball team kicks off NSIC action this weekend against Minnesota State. The neutral site 4-game series has been moved to Saturday-Monday in Sioux Falls. The Wolves and Mavericks will face off at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, 12 p.m. on Sunday in a double header, and 12 p.m. on Monday from the Sioux Falls Stadium.

NORTHERN STATE STORYLINES

• Northern State enters the contests with a 4-4 overall record and 0-0 mark in the NSIC
• The Wolves hold a .311 batting average and .965 fielding percentage on the season along with a team ERA of 8.01
• Karson Hesser leads the offense with a .483 batting average while recording 14 hits, ten RBIs, nine runs and five runs
• Jack Weidner and Brennan Phillips round out the top hitters with a .474 and .444 batting average with both recording one homerun each respectively
• Weidner has recorded nine hits with five runs while notching a .789 slugging % and .565 on base percentage
• In addition, Phillips is second on the team with 12 hits and seven RBIS
• Drew Benson leads the team with two homeruns while hitting .385 with a slugging percentage of .923 and .579 on base percentage to lead the team
• Nick Friedges leads the team on the bases with four stolen bases while notching a .432 on base percentage
• Drew Burkholder recorded a 0.82 ERA in 11.0 innings pitched while only giving up ten hits and one earned run
• In 11.2 innings pitched, Michael Chevalier leads the team with 14 strikeouts in 50 at bats
• Jack Miller appeared in three games with 7.1 innings pitched while holding hitters to a .241 batting average with nine strikeouts

 
MINNESOTA STATE STORYLINES

• Truman State heads into the contest with a 6-8 overall record and a 2-2 mark in the NSIC
• TSU has notched a .283 batting average along with .966 fielding percentage and a team ERA of 7.78
• Aiden Byrne leads the MSU offense hitting .350 along with a .423 on-base percentage, .433 slugging percentage, 21 hits, 13 runs, 15 RBIs, two doubles and one homerun
• Ryan Wickman and Louis Magers lead the team with four homeruns each while Magers recorded a team lead of 17 RBIs
• Wickman and Nick Baker rounds out the top hitters with a .339 and .308 batting average along with 13 and 11 RBIs respectively
• In four appearances on the mound, Spencer Wright has notched one win in 20.0 innings pitched with an ERA of 3.60 and 13 strikeouts
• Mitch Gutknecht appeared in 17.1 innings pitched while recording a 4.15 ERA and 13 strikeouts in 68 at bats
• Sean Gamble has held hitters to a .205 batting average in 11.0 innings while recording an ERA of 1.64
• The Mavericks are led by head coach Matt Magers as he enters in his 13th season at the helm
