Wolves Take on Warriors in Weekend Double Headers

Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University baseball team suits up for week two of NSIC play against Winona State. The Wolves and Warriors are scheduled to play a double header on Friday, March 15 with the first game starting at 1 p.m. along with the second game following at 3 p.m. and a double header on Saturday, March 16 with a start time at 12 p.m. and the final game starting at 2 p.m. from Sioux Falls at the Sanford Diamonds.

NORTHERN STATE STORYLINES
  • Northern State enters the contests with a 6-8 overall record and 1-3 mark in the NSIC
  • The Wolves are hitting .296 along with a .967 fielding percentage on the season along with a team ERA of 9.54
  • Karson Hesser leads the NSU offense hitting .469 with a on base percentage of .526 while notching 23 hits, 16 RBIs, 12 runs, seven doubles and one homerun
  • Brennan Phillips and Jack Weidner both have notched an on base percentage over .500 along with hitting .426 and .395
  • Both Weidner and Phillips have recorded two homeruns each along with Drew Benson with two

  • Jack Miller has struck out 11 hitters in 8.1 innings of work along with an ERA of 5.40

WINONA STATE STORYLINES
  • Winona State heads into the weekend with a 4-10  overall record and a 1-3 mark in the NSIC
  • The Warriors are hitting .310 along with .960 fielding percentage and a team ERA of 6.79 in the 2024 season so far
  • Ryland Wall leads the WSU offensive hitting .348, an on base percentage of .388, .457 slugging percentage, 16 hits, nine runs, eight RBIs, two doubles, and one homerun
  • Cole Fuecker and Alex Berreth rounds out the top hitters with a batting average of .321 and .311 with Fuecker leading the team with 18 hits, seven doubles, and two triples
  • Mason Trocke is effective in the batter's box with two homeruns and 11 RBIs
  • In three starts Cameron Kramer pitched in 12.1 innings while notching seven strikeouts and an ERA of 5.84
  • Peter Tveite has notched an ERA of 3.60 in 10.0 innings of work with 15 strikeouts while holding hitters to a .234 batting average
  • In three appearances, Pierce Gritzmaker has notched 11 strikeouts in 12.0 innings pitched
  • At the helm for the Warriors is Seth Wing as he enters in his second season
