Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State baseball team gears up to take on Truman State in a four-game series. The first game is set to start at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 1, the second and the third game are scheduled for 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, and the fourth game starting at 12 p.m. on Sunday, March 3 from Kirksville, Missouri,  against the Bulldogs.

NORTHERN STATE STORYLINES

• Northern State enters the weekend with a 2-2 overall record after splitting the weekend series against William Jewell
• The Wolves hold a .357 batting average and .960 fielding percentage on the season
• Brennan Phillips leads the team with a .667 batting average while recording eight hits, two double, six runs, and two RBIs in four games; Phillips also holds a .833 slugging percentage, .733 on-base percentage, and 1.566 on-base plus slugging percentage
• Karson Hesser is hitting .529 with nine hits, seven RBIs, six runs, and two doubles in 17 at bats
• In addition, Hesser holds a 1.226 on-base plus slugging percentage, .647 slugging percentage and 7.33 on base percentage
• Drew Benson recorded two homeruns in eight at bats along with hitting .375 and a slugging percentage of 1.250 to lead the team
• Nick Friedges and Jordan DeMarce recorded one homerun each along with Friedges team lead of two stolen bases on two attempts
• In one appearance, Drew Burkholder has tallied one win in 5.0 innings pitched with an ERA of 1.80 while only giving up one earned run off of six hits
• Max Otto recorded his first win of the season against William Jewell with 7.0 innings pitched and 3.86 ERA; has held opponents to a .250 batting average

 
TRUMAN STATE STORYLINES

• Truman State heads into the weekend with a 1-9 overall record
• In the 2024 GLVC Preseason Baseball Coaches' Poll the Bulldogs were picked to finish 11th in the conference with 47 points
• TSU has recorded a .239 batting average along with .970 fielding percentage
• Dakota Joggerst leads the TSU offense hitting .379 along with a .526 on-base percentage, .483 slugging percentage, 11 hits, eight runs, three doubles and two RBIs
• Dylan Thompson leads the team in homeruns with two in the season along with a batting average of .313, ten hits, two doubles and five RBIs
• In three appearances on the mound, Isaac Epp has tallied one win in 17.0 innings pitched with an ERA of 4.76 and 14 strikeouts, while only giving up 22 hits
• Zachry Schnider recorded an 8.00 ERA in 18.0 innings pitched while only giving up 16 earned runs off of 31 hits
• With three appearances, Jaren Guck recorded one save in 3.0 innings pitched with two strikeouts and now allowing any hits
