Liberty, M.O. – The Northern State University baseball team triumphed over William Jewell, 9-5 to start the season.
Karson Hesser led the Wolves with four hits and five RBIs in the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Northern State was the first to score, with Karson Hesser single to score Nick Friedgesin the first inning
- William Jewell responded back in the bottom of the first with two runs to put them ahead along with one run coming in the second inning
- Hesser kept the Wolves rolling with a double that scored Brent Hokeness, and Friedges to tie the game
- In the fifth inning Hesser singled to left center to score Jackson Meyer to put Northern State ahead
- Xander Paar extended the Wolves' lead as he drove one up the middle to score Brenna Phillips
- Hesser knocked his second double of the day to score Friedges; Michael Benevides singled to score Hesser and Hokeness; after a fielder's choice, Phillips scored to put NSU up by six
- William Jewell added two runs in the ninth inning to close out the game
- Northern State tallied nine runs off of 14 hits
- Max Otto pitched 7.0 innings with six strikeouts for his first win of the season
- Jack Miller closed out the game for the Wolves with 2.0 innings pitched and one strikeout
