Spring is Here, Northern State Softball Opens 2023 Campaign

Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University softball team opens the 2023 season tomorrow and Saturday at the Presentation College Dome. The Wolves will face Doane at 12:30 p.m. and Jamestown at 3 p.m. on Friday,  and Morningside at 10 a.m. and Valley City State at 3 p.m. on Saturday.

NORTHERN STATE STORYLINES  
DOANE STORYLINES
  • The Tigers open their season as well this weekend
  • DU was picked seventh in the GPAC Preseason Poll after going 11-28 overall a season ago
  • Doane is led by head coach Jordan Olson in her third season at the helm
 
LAST MEETING
  • The two teams have not faced each other previously
 
JAMESTOWN STORYLINES
  • The Jimmies open their season this weekend, with their first contest against the Wolves
  • Jamestown was picked fourth in the GPAC Preseason Poll after going 23-24-1 a season ago
  • UJ is led by head coach Kevin Gall in his 23rd season
 
LAST MEETING
  • The Wolves last faced the Jimmies in 2019, notching an 8-6 win
  • Northern is 24-48 all-time versus Jamestown
 
MORNINGSIDE STORYLINES
  • The Mustangs kick off their season this weekend in Aberdeen
  • Morningside was picked third in the GPAC preseason poll after going 32-15 in 2022
  • MU is led by head coach Brooke Pruner in his first season at the helm
