West Fargo, N.D. – After one day of competition at the 2023 NSIC Swimming & Diving Championships, the Northern State swim team currently sits in fifth place with a total of 85 team points. To lead the Wolves on day one
Lilly Grebner became only the third swimmer in program history to win a conference title, claiming the crown in the 200-yard IM.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- During the 200-yard IM preliminaries in the morning session, Lauren Forsyth (2:15.81) and Hannah Rodts (2:21.36) set new season-best times while Brianna Back set a new career-best time (2:16.85)
- The relay team of Maddie Gonzales, Mayson Sheldon, Lauren Forsyth, and Delaney Ryken kicked off the evening session with a podium finish the 200-yard medley relay by finishing sixth place in time of 1:47.96, tying the program record in the event set in 2017-18
- Lilly Grebner entered the NSIC Championships with the conference's fastest time in the 200-yard IM and she ended the night a conference champion in the event, hitting the wall in a time of 2:04.31 in A Final
- Gonzales qualified for the C Final in the 200-yard IM and finished 21st in the event with a time of 2:12.71
- Ryken added a top-10 finish in the 50-yard freestyle after qualifying for the B Final, she finished tenth overall in the event with a time of 24.39
- The Wolves ended the night with another podium finish, this time in the 200-yard freestyle relay as the team of Delaney Ryken, Mia Fursedonne, Lauren Forsyth, and Haley Osborne finished eighth overall with a season-best time of 1:38.57

Action from the 2023 NSIC Swimming & Diving Championships will continue from West Fargo tomorrow as session three will start at 10 a.m. with the 100-yard butterfly, 400-yard IM, and 200-yard freestyle prelims. The finals of those three events plus the 400-yard medley relay will take place during session five at 5:30 p.m. tomorrow evening.
